In the realm of sports photography, few names resonate as profoundly as Muhammad Ali. His charisma, prowess, sheer magnetism inside and outside of the ring made him an icon of the 20th century. Behind many of the iconic images that immortalise Ali legacy stands David King, a photographer who’s lens not only captured the physicality of the sport but also the essence of the man himself.

One of the most compelling chapters in Ali’s storied career was his preparation for the historic Rumble in The Jungle bout against George Foreman in 1974.

As Ali geared up to face his formidable opponent, he retreated to a training camp nestled in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania.

It was here that David King then a photographer for the times, embarked on a journey to document the intensity, determination and spirit of the man who would become known as The Greatest.

As the Rumble in the jungle drew nearer, Kings photographs served not only as a visual chronicle of Ali’s journey but also as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
